This past weekend was a time that really opened my eyes to the reality of life. I was blessed to have been able to share this life changing experience with Brandi and our 2 boys Chase 9 and Kaelob 7. Together as a family we set out to represent not only our business but a PURPOSE. Our purpose was to gain a better understanding of how we can leverage our resources in several industries to make a difference in the GULF OIL SPILL Clean Up Efforts. Mission Accomplished!
We left Jacksonville Beach Thursday afternoon and headed to Pensacola Beach, FL. to meet up with our new friend Gregg Hall. (Gregg Hall lives on Pensacola Beach and has been giving a citizen point of view of the effects of the oil spill.) While driving into town we noticed an overwhelming smell that I could only relate to the smell of a Jiffy Lube. This was our first experience with the effects of the Oil Spill. We then crossed the bridge that brought us into Pensacola Beach. We were amazed by the beauty of the place. The moonlight lit up the bay and the Sugar Sand Beach glisten. Our excitement grew as we approached the beach frontage only be crushed by the image of bull dozers and dump trucks. We arrived on PCola Beach around midnight and met up with Gregg Hall.
Gregg took us down to the beach access so we could just enjoy the darkness of the night that hides the damages caused by the oil and tar. As we returned from the beach I stopped and asked a clean up worker why he was stationed at the beach access? He responded "they told me to warn people of the hazards of being on the beach and from time to time they close the entrance to the beach because safety hazards" I introduced myself and asked him his' name. He declined. I asked if he would talk on my Creative Vado HD Vid Cam, He declined. I asked why he was not wanting to talk. He responded, " I don't want to loose my job." Who do you work for I asked. "BP" he answered. My heart dropped and I couldn't believe what I heard. Gregg explained this is why national news is not reporting on what is really going on down here. Reporters are taken to staged areas and are shown a fake truth. On that note it was time for bed. I had to be up at 5ish for Gregg's sunrise beach report.
